Well it has been a very busy summer with lots of new adventures. God has taught us much and allowed us to meet some wonderful people as well. We are very grateful.

With the new school year upon us, we are focusing on some things here on the home front and are not doing much in the way of music, (as far as scheduled concerts, etc.) however on Sept 24-26th we are involved in some Revival type meetings at:

It is not a talent show because there are no prizes or financial compensations for any of the participants, but merely a time when people can gather together for fun and fellowship. THE OTTERSON FAMILY Bluegrass Gospel Concert

The Otterson family have lived in this area all their lives but has lived in rural Cofax now for the last 9 years. The parents, Mike and Jayne have been singing and playing for many years and their 7 children have naturally picked up the talents. At first they mainly played for their own enjoynent, but began to feel the talents God had gifted them with should be used for His glory. One of their first ministry opportunities was to play at the Barnabus Coffehouse in Chippewa Falls. They have been playing there about 4 years now. While some of their friends travel around ministering with their music, the Ottersons have chosen to minister mostly locally.

The older 3 children have married, so the 4 younger ones sing and play with their parents now. Zach,19, plays percussion; Hannah,17, plays mandolin and sings;Levi,14, plays guitar, dobro, banjo, fiddle and also sings;Tabby, 11, plays fiddle and sings. Dad, Mike does lead vocals and plays gutar while Jayne joins in with the upright bass and vocals.

Nikki Clark 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Living on a dairy farm in rural Wisconsin, Nikki Clark and her husband Nathan are proud parents of three wonderful young children: Jordan, Jessica, and Jonathan. Nikki Clark is a new Christian artist from Boyceville. She has been a singer, songwriter, and piano player for as long as she can remember. Her true mission is to write the kind of music that touches peoples hearts. The kind that helps them through tough times, makes their good days better and brings them to an intimate place to worship the King of Kings. Nikki and her husband will be there throughout the afternoon and evening to help minister to the needs of the community.

Our good friends, the Klawitters and O'Brien's up at The Wilderness Fellowship are hosting a bluegrass concert/jam time Saturday, July 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Johnson Hall.
The Klawitter Family, ourselves, and the O.K. Wingnutz will be performing. Afterwards, refreshments will be served. An open jam time will be in the works as well. So if you can play an instrument, bring it with and join us!

Musical Talent Line-up

Voices of Peace from Potter, WI have been together since September 1997. The men, Tom and Bud, provide the music with two guitars and Carolyn sings lead vocal.

The Otterson Family has been blessed by the Southern, Country, and Traditional Gospel sound since they were saved in 1983. Mike and Jayne are joined by their children, Zack, Hannah, Levi, and Tabby. They provide Gospel Music with a family touch! *New this year!

For His Glory from Owen, WI, are a family of 8 (Ervin, Ruth, Janelle, Chadwick, Sonya, Justus, Fawnda, and Jubilee) who convey an evangelistic message in a traditional/southern gospel style. Sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses blend in a 4-part harmony accompanied by piano.

The Musical Hammers Family Trio of Muscatine, IA, formed in 2002, consists of Jane Seligman on hammer dulcimer; her husband, Gary, on upright bass; & her brother, Steve Ellsworth, on rhythm guitar. They are guided by old hymns from generations ago & their sound is “easy listening”.

The Glistening Stones of Black Creek, WI consist of Wendell & Sheila Lawrence and their ten children. Their musical program is filled with variety that will minister to all ages! *New this year!

The Miller Family a group of 4 from Gillette, WI were inspired by an event in Tennessee called “Spirit Fest”, and have traveled and sang all over the country.

Free will offerings will be taken for the groups.

First of all, our February 15 2009 kickoff concert in Clear Lake was so much fun!!! The Reeve Evangelical Free Church sponsored it and they really treated us gooooooood! The Otterson Family is looking forward to doing some more singing up in that area. Thanks to Pat Leland for doing most of the ground work in setting everything up (including a delicious dinner from Lucky's Restaurant and Catering--Clear Lake).

Our Desire
Our desire is to lift up the name of Jesus and to encourage each other in the faith. We live in world of great darkness, where the multitudes mock Christianity and where the true believer is being tested on a daily basis. The enemy is working overtime to steal and destroy our faith in the Lord Jesus. The Bible says that in the last days there will be a great falling away, that even the elect will be deceived. So as we ponder these things we can see we have a great enemy to which we must war against. That is why we must fix our eyes on Jesus. He alone gives us hope for the future, both in this life and the next. This is why we are called to worship and to sing praises to our God. This is why we must shut out all of our cares of life and look to his Glory and power. We have no hope without it.
Our desire is to remain faithful even in the midst of trials and fear. In the midst of being mocked and reproached. And even as our eyes gaze upon this sin sick world we can say “He alone is worthy of all our praise; all our hope and blessing are found in Him. He is all-powerful and His loving kindness is ever present. No matter what, we can trust and rest in Him”. What peace we have in our great God and King, our father and friend, our redeemer!

The Herrlinger Family and The Otterson Family invite you to an evening of Gospel Music

On Monday, August 11, Burnell was struck broadside on his motorcycle by a pickup truck. He sustained broken bones in both arms. A leg and most of his ribs were broken. Burnell is recovering, but doctors say it may be up to a year before he will be able to work again. All medical bills are taken care of, but the Martin family has no other income to meet their living expenses.
A freewill offering will be taken and all proceeds will go to Burnell and his family.

In the wee hours of the morning of September 29th, Mom’s only brother, John, committed suicide. We are devastated.

I have learned that when someone close to your life dies, it's hard - we all know that - but when the life was taken on purpose by that person them self, the grieving is unlike a "normal" death. Not only do we feel the pain of his death but also the pain of what he did. You want to ask them "why" but you know it's too late. It's a shocking and sharp feeling that leaves you feeling numb.

He had a family, though very broken. Pray specifically for his 3 teenage sons. They need Jesus and especially so now. Your prayers are appreciated.

Here's a few (rather dark, fuzzy and uncreative) shots of our night at the Barnabas House. The cowboy theme was inspired by the fact that we were replacing a Texas Cowboy who was scheduled to sing, but found out a couple weeks ago he would not be able to make it. The Barnabas House never corrected the schedule change on their online schedule, so to make up for everyone's grave disappointment at seeing us, we did our best to make good replacements.

In case you happen to wonder, reports indicate that the information has been successfully retrieved—after months of hacking usernames and tapping passwords—and stored away in a safe file. Interest should therefore perk up this neglected little corner of the web a little more often. Somebody asked us about our singing Saturday night...

What kind of coffee house is this?? What kind of music do you sing?

This is the Barnabas Christian CoffeeHouse in Chippewa Falls. Situated in the heart of Chippewa Falls, it reaches out to the needy, and those seeking for more than what the bars have to offer.

Our music is Southern Gospel mixed with Bluegrass. You couldn’t call us professionals since we seem to take our living room and it’s atmosphere up on stage with us. I’m not sure if we could play or sing a song the same way twice. Though Dad did make a list of songs to sing and play, it was more like jamming up there than anything, especially when the list was forgotten as the audience started hollering out their favorites.

I guess a video clip would be just the thing to give you a chance to hear us. Wouldn’t you know, the rousing rendition of "At Calvary" starring Toby Nelson on the harmonica was documented in movie format.

Drug Problem!

The other day, a gentleman at a store in a small town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county. He asked me a rhetorical question, “Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?”

I did have a drug problem when I was a kid growing up on the farm!!

· I was drug to church on Sunday morning.
· I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
· I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
· I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
· I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn’t put forth my best effort.
· I was drug to the kitchen sink if I uttered a profane four-letter word (I do know what Lye soap tastes like).
· I was drug out to pull weeds in mom’s garden and flowerbeds and cockleburs out of dad’s fields.
· I was drug to the home of family, friends, and neighbors to help out to fix a clothesline or chop some firewood, and if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back out to the woodshed.

Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think.
They are stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin, and if today’s children had this kind of drug problem, the world might be a better place today.

Out in the snow-dusted pasture of the Leaning T Ranch is a horse. A horse without a name and who has outgrown her reference of Filly. She's rather mild, somewhat opinionated, and likes to soak up attention. She also seems to get some sort of a harried thrill out of the electric fence, and apparently likes the way it feels tangled around her legs.

We, Brittney and Hannah, have formed a collaboration against unnamed pets on our ranch. Our combined efforts have recently given creative names to a litter of puppies upon the commencement of their darling lives. Extra-affectionate cats have borne with smug pride symbolic names such as Caper, Seraphina, Boots, Scar and Ginevar, also thanks to our humble operation.

However, the Filly in the dusted pastures has posed a whole new set of issues in the naming agenda. There is a fine-print policy in all the legalities of our attempted cooperation, stating that since she is of a larger species than a cat or puppy it is necessary therefore that a larger amount of opinions will surround the christening of this fine steed.

Brittney and Hannah, as members of the No Pet Left Behind act (the naming collaboration) have taken the matter into their hands. After extensive editing and refining the name candidates, we hereby deliver and submit the most appropriate names to the polls for the popular opinion of the public.

We ask that you, as the taxpaying public, would submit your vote on the names as follows. If you would like to represent a name of your own choosing, you are welcome to do so as we like to support the decisions of the public. However, the policy in general is that the name with the most votes will win in favor, and will be thusly christened to the unfortunate Filly without a name.

Our desire is to lift up the name of Jesus and to encourage each other in the faith. We live in world of great darkness, where the multitudes mock Christianity and where the true believer is being tested on a daily basis. The enemy is working overtime to steal and destroy our faith in the Lord Jesus. The Bible says that in the last days there will be a great falling away, that even the elect will be deceived. So as we ponder these things we can see we have a great enemy to which we must war against. That is why we must fix our eyes on Jesus. He alone gives us hope for the future, both in this life and the next. This is why we are called to worship and to sing praises to our God. This is why we must shut out all of our cares of life and look to his Glory and power. We have no hope without it.

Our desire is to remain faithful even in the midst of trials and fear. In the midst of being mocked and reproached. And even as our eyes gaze upon this sin sick world we can say “He alone is worthy of all our praise; all our hope and blessing are found in Him. He is all-powerful and His loving kindness is ever present. No matter what, we can trust and rest in Him”. What peace we have in our great God and King, our father and friend, our redeemer!

These li'l bundles of cuteness are 6 weeks old with the sweetest, lovable personalities. They were partially hand-raised, so they are extra friendly and love people. The youngest of the Otters were delighted by the opportunity to take part in the rearing of these puppies, so that means very child-friendly pups. They are now ready for a new (aka loving!) home.

Available: Ferguson, Finny, Festus, and Felix, all males. They were born to Jemima, a registered purebred pekingese, and were sired by Archie (our favorite dog), a pekepoo.

Puppy Update

Our puppies are growing so fast and almost three weeks old. Their eyes are open, and they are beginning to eat some liquid food (other than milk). They are very fat and cute. A few times a day, we find a puppy outside of the pet carrier they’re supposed to stay in, crying its heart out...“will someone help me find my mom”?

Well, it is hard to imagine that just 2 weeks ago, we were bottle-feeding them as their mother recovered from the surgery she had to remove the huge stone in her bladder, (1 inch in diameter). Now they are all well and growing so fast. We had a good time learning all about bottle- feeding puppies and actually got pretty good at it. Talk about bonding! Anyway, these little butterballs are so adorable we are enjoying every minute of having them. They will be ready to go in 3 weeks, which is not too far away. It sure will be sad to see them go.
By the way, is there anyone out there that wants a Pekapekapoo? Put your bid in now; because they’ll be gone in no time and since these are the best puppies, we will only let the best of the best homes take them.

Our supposedly infertile little runt of a dog surprised us. We now have 5 puppies to show for it.

When we discovered she was pregnant (5 days ago), panic set in. For one, she’s a Pekinese, and they’re known for having a lot of problems delivering and usually end up with a cesarean. For two, the sire is over twice her size. For three, the quoted veterinary costs would be outrageous. For four, well, she’s Jemima… nobody could ever imagine her as a little puppy mommy.

But she did it. The poor thing spent all day having babies, and is tuckered out. But no veterinary intervention was called for.
